Any shipments containing alcoholic beverages are sent with an "Adult Signature Required" sticker, and the common carrier that delivers our merchandise is required to ask and check for identification upon delivery. Because we have no control over the temperature conditions at any 3rd party carriers' warehouses, we always attempt to deliver wines to our 3rd party carrier at the beginning of each week so that you can receive your wine before the weekend. As a result, your wine may not be delivered to our 3rd party carrier the day that you place your order. Please understand that during business hours, your orders are immediately packaged and scheduled for delivery, but may be delayed until ideal conditions for shipment arise. This is the bottle that frankly has kept our adoration of wine firmly grounded for almost 15 years—ever since we first discovered this gemstone as a poor blossoming oenophile couple.
Calabretta is maybe one of the most grounding, soul-soothing, hope-reviving wines you could find. The estate dates back four generations in the shadow of the volcano of Mount Etna. All the way along they’ve tended by hand and without pesticides or herbicides their nearly 100-year-old vines growing semi-wild in between olive and fruit trees. In the cellar, they basically do nothing: crush the grapes, then let the juice naturally ferment and age for six... seven... sometimes almost ten years in giant old Slavonian oak botti.
They emerge quietly commanding, exuding this calm, wise, tempered-by-time rusticity that now appears almost elegant, wholly captivating, whispering blatant evidence of a unique and haunting beauty that can only come with rest, age, and patience.
